Can I keep an original live recording?

Yes. Choose Capture, record an authorized microphone or supported shared source, then Stop and keep recording. Review playback and choose Download original recording to save the browser-recorded file without an AI action. The clip remains in tab memory and is excluded from workspace backups, so download it before replacing the source, leaving the workspace or changing accounts. Keep downloaded copies private and manage them through your device. A later Analyze or Ask Audio request follows the existing private processing and allowance rules.

How do I reset a forgotten password?

Choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. Request a link using your account email, open the newest message, then enter and confirm a new password. Links expire after 30 minutes and work once. Opening a link alone makes no change. Resetting signs out existing sessions and sends a security notice; sign in normally afterward. Your saved browser workspace, free-action usage, subscription and permanent access are preserved. Requests show the same response for registered and unregistered addresses and are limited to one per minute and five per daily window.

Can I convert a link into an audio file?

Yes, for direct downloadable audio/video file URLs. In the Link tab, use Convert to WAV for a full mono/stereo 16-bit PCM audio file, or Keep original audio to retain an audio source's format. Preview the result locally before replacing your workspace source, download it or explicitly load it into the workspace. Clear removes the imported preview and its browser URL without deleting device downloads or a copy already loaded into the workspace. Input and output are limited to 100 MB. Conversion runs in your browser and costs no AI action; only a later analysis uploads audio. The source must allow CORS browser downloads and cannot require sign-in or redirects. Spotify and YouTube share links remain official-player playback; use an authorized original file. For SoundCloud, use the creator-enabled download option when offered. Codec support varies by browser and conversion cannot improve source quality.

Can I organize and export Recent Analyses?

Yes. Search report text, session titles, notes, filenames or goals; filter by listening mode; sort newest, oldest or title. Export matching reports as a private JSON backup without another AI action. It contains only those history records, including their saved notes, not audio or the rest of your workspace. Restoring it replaces Recent Analyses after preview and confirmation. Removing a report or clearing all history now requires confirmation; clear-all includes reports hidden by filters. Other local sections, loaded work and exported copies are not cleared.

Can I play shared Spotify, YouTube or SoundCloud links?

Yes. Open the Link tab, paste a song URL or copied share text, choose Open player, then use the official provider's Play button. Spotify tracks, albums and playlists, YouTube watch/short/live links and public SoundCloud tracks or sets are supported, including supported provider short links. Playback availability, previews, ads and sign-in depend on the provider. A player connects only after you choose Open player; Close player stops and removes it. Shared playback costs no AI action and does not make the stream available to HearThis AI. Full listening analysis requires an audio copy you are permitted to use.

Can I use it with songs I made in Suno?

Yes. Download your own Suno track through Suno’s approved MP3 or WAV download flow, then upload it to HearThis. You can analyze one generation or compare two versions side by side.

What happens to uploaded audio?

Audio is uploaded privately for the listening request. HearThis attempts deletion after processing and failed requests, but cleanup is best effort: interrupted uploads or service errors can leave temporary objects. Signed URL expiry limits URL access and does not delete the object. See Privacy & Data for provider and retention limits.

How does the free plan and $4.99 subscription work?

Each account gets 5 completed AI listening actions at no charge. Analyze, Ask Audio, and A/B Compare each count as one action. After those 5 uses, HearThis Unlimited is $4.99 per month with no monthly action cap.

Do failed AI requests use one of my 5 free actions?

No. HearThis reserves a free action before the request and returns it to your allowance if the AI request fails.

Can I cancel HearThis Unlimited?

Yes. Subscription management is handled through Stripe billing. An active subscription keeps unlimited access while it remains active.

Are BPM, key, mix and mastering results exact measurements?

No. BPM, key, loudness character, stereo image, balance and other technical observations are listening-based estimates unless stated otherwise. The report includes confidence notes so estimates are not presented as laboratory measurements.

What kinds of audio can it understand?

HearThis can work with music, speech, voice notes, podcasts, meetings, instruments, environmental sound, machinery and mixed audio. Dedicated listening modes steer the analysis toward the most useful perspective.

Can HearThis really handle files larger than 15 MB?

Yes. HearThis accepts supported audio/video files up to 100 MB. Files that exceed the general listening model's single-audio-object ceiling are automatically routed through a size-safe path: large Speech mode files use the long-audio transcription service, while large music, mix and sound files are converted locally into a model-safe listening proxy before private upload.

Where are Saved Moments and session notes stored?

Saved Moments, session titles and notes are stored under your signed-in account in this browser and tied to the loaded file identity. Search bookmark notes or displayed timestamps and edit a note without changing its playback position. Saved edits are included in session exports and backups. Failed storage writes keep previous moments and your draft available for retry. Unfinished bookmark and revision-action drafts clear when the audio source changes. Guest work stays in memory for the visit. These tools do not consume AI actions. Browser storage is not encrypted; protect your browser profile and keep exported backups secure.

Can I save reusable listening presets?

Yes. HearThis includes built-in goal presets for music, mixing, speech and sound investigation. You can also save your current listening mode and Analysis Brief as a custom preset in the current browser for reuse on later files.

What is the Revision Action Board?

After an analysis, HearThis automatically seeds a local checklist from the report's prioritized next actions. You can move each item through To do, In progress, Done or Skipped, add your own actions, and include the current board in Session Export without consuming another AI use.

What is the Session Decision Log?

The Session Decision Log records whether the current version should be revised, compared, approved, or archived, plus your rationale. It stays in browser-local workspace data, consumes no AI action, and is included in Session Export.

Can I back up my local HearThis workspace?

Yes. Sign in to access your account's local inventory, JSON backup, validated restore preview and clear controls. Backups include reports, moments, notes, presets, boards and decisions, but exclude passwords, billing and audio. The app separates accounts and clears active state on account changes. Older unassigned data is hidden and preserved; restore only a backup you own.

How do I verify my email or delete my account?

Open Account & Usage for email verification and account removal. Verification links expire in 30 minutes and work once; free AI actions require verification while existing paid and permanent access is preserved. Deletion requires your current password and typed confirmation after recurring billing has ended and open checkouts expire. Permanent Unlimited accounts are protected from accidental self-service deletion; contact support for a verified request. See Privacy & Data for retained records and cleanup limits.

What does Session Export include?

Session Export packages the session title and notes, active listening report, listening mode and goal, Ask Audio Q&A, Saved Moments, revision actions, session decision, and the latest A/B comparison verdict into one Markdown or JSON workspace record.

Does HearThis support keyboard shortcuts and a command palette?

Yes. Ctrl/Cmd+K opens the workspace command palette. When you are not typing in a form, Space or K toggles playback, J and L seek backward or forward 10 seconds, and M saves a quick playback bookmark.

What is the seven-step HearThis workflow?

What does Blind Compare do?
